We are committed to advancing sustainable supply chain practices by working with our upstream suppliers who support and contribute to our operations, projects and products globally. Sustainable Supply Chain activities are governed through Fortescue's Procurement standards and processes. The Board Sustainability and Safety Committee oversees sustainability matters, while the Executive team and Director Procurement are responsible for day-to-day sustainable supply chain management.

Our vision is to pioneer collaborative sustainable supply chain practices that generate long term value and net positive outcomes for humanity and the natural environment.

Our Sustainable Supply Chain Program

Fortescue’s Sustainable Supply Chain Principles set out our vision and ambition for building more sustainable supply chains. These principles communicate to our suppliers, stakeholders and internal teams what we are working towards, inspiring stronger collaboration and a shared commitment to a shared goal. It takes a systems-based approach to addressing sustainability in complex global supply chains, focusing on key drivers such as accountability, capability building, innovation and strong partnerships.

Fortescue has a dedicated Sustainable Supply Chain team embedded into global Procurement who are responsible for integrating sustainability into the source-to-contract lifecycle. This includes strengthening governance and processes, building internal capability and working with suppliers to support delivery against our Sustainable Supply Chain Standard.

Our priority pillars are human rights, greenhouse gases, circularity and traceability. These pillars drive us towards our mission to establish and maintain responsible, sustainable supply chains for our operations, projects and products by reducing emissions, promoting decent work, and driving circularity and delivering value for people, partners, and the planet.

Human Rights in our Supply Chain

We take human rights seriously.

Fortescue embeds risk-based human rights due diligence into our procurement processes, guided by international standards including the OECD Due Diligence Guidelines, UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.

Our Sustainable Supply Chain team works directly with suppliers to go beyond desktop assessments. We engage on the ground through site visits, third-party verification, worker welfare assessments and worker voice surveys to better understand worker experiences and drive practical improvement.

We see sustainability as a shared responsibility and an opportunity for long-term value. That means working with suppliers to build capability, improve transparency, identify and address risks early, and strengthen resilience across our supply chains.

This is especially important in renewable energy and green technology supply chains, where human rights risks can be heightened. Through early engagement and enhanced due diligence, we work to improve outcomes for workers while supporting stronger, more responsible supply chains.
